Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 6, 2026

This is the page where the lawyers get to talk. The short version: I collect your name, email, and (optionally) phone number so I can stay in touch with you. That's the whole scheme. Here's the long version, in plain language.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Misha Collins ("I," "me"). For anything related to your personal data — questions, requests, complaints, strongly worded haiku — contact:

2. What I collect and why

When you sign up on this site, I collect:

  • Your name — so I know what to call you.
  • Your email address — to send you occasional updates about projects, books, and ideas for things we might do together.
  • Your phone number (only if you choose to give it and tick the separate text-message consent box) — to text you occasionally. US and Canada only.
  • The date and time you signed up and your consent choice — so I can prove you actually asked to hear from me.

That's everything. This site sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics.

3. Legal basis

Your data is processed on the basis of your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you give by ticking the consent box(es) on the signup form. Email and text messages have separate consents — you can agree to one without the other.

4. Where your data is stored

Signups are submitted to and stored in Google Forms and Google Sheets (Google LLC), which act as data processors. Google encrypts data in transit and at rest, and processes it under Google's privacy policy.

Google's servers are located in part in the United States. For visitors in the EU/EEA and UK, this international transfer is covered by Google's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, Standard Contractual Clauses.

If I later use an email or SMS service to send messages (for example, a newsletter platform), your data will be shared with that service solely so the messages can be sent, and this policy will be updated to name it.

5. What I will never do

I will never sell your data. I will never share it with other companies for their marketing. I will never send you spam. The list exists so I can write to you — nothing else.

6. How long I keep it

Only for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or ask me to delete your data, it will be removed from the list. I may keep a minimal record that you opted out, so I don't accidentally contact you again.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR (and similar laws elsewhere), you have the right to:

  • Access the data I hold about you;
  • Correct it if it's wrong;
  • Delete it ("right to be forgotten");
  • Export it in a portable format;
  • Withdraw consent at any time — via the unsubscribe link in any email, by replying STOP to any text, or by emailing privacy@mishacollins.com. Withdrawing doesn't affect the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew;
  • Complain to your local data protection authority if you think I've handled your data improperly. (Please email me first — I'd rather just fix it.)

Requests are answered within 30 days, usually much faster.

8. Children

This list isn't directed at children. If you're under 16 (or the age of digital consent where you live), please don't sign up without a parent or guardian's permission. If I learn that a child's data was collected without proper consent, I'll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, the effective date above will be updated, and if the change affects how your data is used, I'll tell you by email before it takes effect rather than quietly editing this page and hoping nobody notices.
